Dancing Tour by Street Friends in the Heart of Kuala Lumpur

People think they are hopeless for living on the streets- homeless, unshowered and avoided. That is just the society for being judgemental and unkind. If we could untap their most valuable resources, we will not only generate revenue for the country but also restore the dignity of the street folks.

But what is their most valuable resources? The streets are all they know and they know them best! They have lived weaving in and out every nook and cranny of Kuala Lumpur and they know the charms of the unseen pockets of the city like the back of their hand. Who else would know the stories that was birthed at Lorong Berangan or the history of Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin like these street friends.

Yes, the once homeless will be your tour guide. They will show you the less beaten path (which adventurers love) and enlighten you with the locals' idiosyncracies. AirAsia's award-winning inflight magazine travel360 is collaborating with NGO Yellow House and the local government Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) to empower its people and beautify the city.

As a travel organization with a heart, AirAsia is always keen in pioneering or supporting initiatives like this especially creative ones. Unseen Tours is truely one of the most unique program straddling in both charity and tourism.

Mesmerizing murals
According to the founder of Yellow House, Syam Priah, Unseen Tours is not poverty tourism. The tours are not showing the poor side of Kuala Lumpur. In fact, it's the exact opposite. The tours have simply turned the weakness of our street friends into strength by giving them opportunity to create something that they are proud of and something that we can all appreciate.
The music adds anther dimension into life
Even if you think have pounded the pavements of KL day and night, the Dancing Tour is nothing like any tour you have been on. Driven by music emanated from a set of headphones each, the delirium is like a pill that washes the slightest blue in you.

Streets and lanes that used to look dodgy received face lifts from DBKL to enhance traffic and reduce crime rate
Tourists frequent the alleys to give warmth to the once notorious places

Attractive and vibrant murals
Wonderful place for photo shoots
I love Kuala Lumpur even more!
