| Welcome to Kun Ming |
| When we arrived at Kun Ming city, we were picked up by our driver. We opted for a 2-pax private tour |
| We were driven in a comfortable BYD |
| Traffic in the city as usual |
| Checked-in at the Hua Shin Nian Hotel |
| Accommodations in Kun Ming are affordable and of good standard. Comfy with a hint of luxury |
We were eager to get out and about the city. We were wondering if we could chance upon the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archways (金马碧鸡坊 Jinma Biji Fang) that evening itself. We were prepared to just wait for our guide tomorrow if it was too out of the way. To our delight it was just a few minutes walk from our hotel! |
| And we explored more in to the old town. It was not as difficult as we expected it to be. |
| Some sights were worth a stop for a while |
| Things we saw while galivanting |
| Cherry blossoms were definitely a sight to behold. |
| This was definitely a win for us this trip |
| The cherry blossoms lighten up the city even more than the lights |
| Dreaming underneath the flowers |
| Snacking along the way in the ancient town |
| Such a warm feeling to be accompanied by food along our stroll |
| Liang pi |
| Yak jerky |
| Oh yes and flower tea |
 | | And we settled down for a snack set |
| Just the right degustation set to introduce Kun Ming food |
 | | | | More cherry blossoms on the way back |
 | | | | The next morning, I visited the arch again before sunrise. The calm environment showcased another kind of beauty of the arch |
| Sunrise in Kun Ming |
| Some quaint heritage houses |
 | | This is the distinctive, crescent-shaped, Art Deco-style buildings on Guanghua Street in Kunming, nicknamed "Sister Buildings" or "paper-thin buildings," famous for their unique, slim, golden facades built post-WWII to commemorate Allied victory, now often a boutique hotel. |
A walk at the Green Lake Park 翠湖公园. I thought it was just another park but the gardens here are indeed impressive |
| Green Lake Park is a popular, free, central urban park in Kunming, China, famous for its serene waters, traditional scenery |
 | | Just look at the blooms |
| Flowers of every hue carefully curated |
| There are CCTVs all around this park |
 | | | To our relief, the public toilets are clean and even electronically devised |
| Seasonal flower installation |
| And we are off to our next destination- Dali |
| The R&R stops at China highway |
