The Beefiest Vietnamese Pho in Town @ An Viet Paradigm Mall

That bowl of beef pho got me finishing the soup till the last drop. They call it the beefiest beef noodle in town and so far they got my vote for it! That bowl of Vietnamese Beef Noodle Special by An Viet packs a punch of bovine goodness. The beef parts, may it be the brisket or the tripe or the tendon, are cooked just right so that there is no need for effort to chew. Their clear soup inherits all the beefy essense while being just gamy enough to tantalize the palette. Beef lovers will be courted and those who are not might be converted.

Vietnamese Beef Noodle Special

Other than quality ingredients, you can tell that there has been a lot of thought poured in the bowl of pho. Every aspect of the beef noodle is curated.

They have made three improvements on their signature dish:

1. Different types of beef bones are used to enhance sweetness and to add better texture of the broth. It is no doubt that the effort to prepare the broth by simmering it for 12 hours with 18 herbs and spices pays off. The soup is thoroughly flavourful sans MSG so that you can go ahead and savour it all without having to chug down a jar of water later.

2. If y ou like beef, I'd like to see how you resist the premium raw ribeye used. Well marbled and just the right thickness, the slices of meat just melts in your mouth.

3. An Viet now uses not any ordinary tripe but crunchy honeycomb tripe. You can tell that the tripe is seasoned with passion by its tenderness. It is always a mouthwatering moment unearthing it from the bowl.

In your bowl of beef pho, slurp up the silky and thin rice noodle. I tried to be satiated with the medium portion but was in vain. Scroll down to see how one additional portion looks like.

I nearly told the waiter to exclude the tendons as I always had to deal with tough ones that tire my jaw but I am glad I did not. That gob of collagen was like springy gel that was a pleasure to have. Brisket was brilliantly tender while beef balls were bouncy and imbued happiness.

There are 3 options to choose from:

1. Vietnamese Beef Noodle Special (ala carte RM 23.90, with side dish RM28.90)
comprises of handmade 100% pure beef ball, beef brisket, premium raw ribeye beef, tendon, honeycomb tripe and of course, the full flavoured super beefy soup

2. Vietnamese Raw Beef & Beef Brisket Noodle Soup (ala carte RM 19.90, with side dish RM24.90)

3. Vietnamese Raw Beef & Beef Ball Noodle Soup (ala carte RM 18.90, with side dish RM23.90)

Fresh condiment corner. The restaurant lets their customers harvest their own basil leaves. It makes my meal more interactive!

Other than dishing out the beefiest pho in town, An Viet also contributes to some character building in the society. Upon your visit, you will notice a lot of posters about no food wasting,  stopping hunger and being a ZERO food waste HERO. A food-losophy firmly upheld to ensure food is finished.

This restaurant lets you choose the right rice or noodle portion from 100 gm, 150 gm to 200 gm. If you need more, they will top it up for you till the maximum amount without additional charges. For every finished meal, RM0.10 will be donated to Food Aid Foundation. So far they have donated RM50,000.

In sync with the intention to reduce food wastage, An Viet lets guests harvest fresh basil leaves from the live plant by themselves so that they know how much they need. This I have to say is a concept out of the ordinary. It was not only waste-free but enjoyable having to cut my own basil leaves instead of sitting and waiting to be served.

An Viet has a wonderful concept of letting their guests choose the portion that they can finish.
If you need more, they will top it up for you without additional charges. I think it is a very character-moulding way of spreading this value. For every meal finished, An Viet donates RM0.10 to the food bank. So far, they have donated approximately RM50,000

To give you an idea, 50g is 3 mouthfuls of noodles (according to my mouth size)

Fresh beef combined with its lard for a palatable texture

An Viet's beef balls are 100% handmade. Not even the blender is used.
..
Harvesting basil leaves right from the plant itself!

Fresh condiments to accompany my bowl of pho

The premium raw ribeye entices the palette

Silky strands of pho that slips into your throat

Honey comb tripe

Tender beef brisket

Collagen-rich tendon is a true pleasure to have

An Viet also champions zero wastage

Ăn Viet is a chain of restaurants set up by Caren and William, born out of their love for good food and their vision for ‘A World With Zero Hunger’, as Vietnamese cooking, whilst allowing creative preparation methods, ensure every part of the plant or animal is turned into a delicious dish, thus reducing food waste. Their travels and passion took them from North to the Central and South of Vietnam, understanding the food culture and researching the art of Vietnamese cuisine, to curate a menu showcasing the best of Vietnam, so that people will enjoy and hence "Ăn" (Vietnamese for to ‘EAT'), and NOT waste food’.

Ăn Viet which literally means ‘Eat Viet’, is a casual dining restaurant that stays true to a key characteristic of traditional Vietnamese cooking – using only the freshest premium ingredients and allowing the natural flavours of the ingredients to shine through.

Ăn Viet is also found at The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley (near to Jaya Grocer), Sunway Pyramid (near to AEON Supemarket) and in Penang at Gurney Plaza.

Staycation at Dorsett Residences Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur

I used to think that staycations are unnecessary as I will be staying in the same familiar location anyway. But, as I learn how to appreciate the finer things in life, I now view it as a therapy that should be invested in for mental health. In fact, staying in a familiar place makes you focus on relaxing without having to stress over the obligation of checking out a new place. One does not have to go far to break the monotony of urban life.

Despite hustling in the city day in day out, I somehow chose the same city to have my staycation over one weekend. My staycation smack in the throbbing heart of Kuala Lumpur made me embrace the other side of my work place. It was refreshing to see that stressful location from another perspective. It was 'same same but different'. Although I am technically in KL every day, I barely had time to appreciate the sights and sounds of the capital. There was never enough time to properly marvel at the electricity, to explore the alleys and stay till late. I was always darting from office to office and back home.

I have always wanted to take my time at the KL Golden Triangle area to soak the energy and vibe of the city like a tourist. Because I wanted somewhere that gives me the privilege of staying as late as I want there, I opted for the Dorsett Residence Kuala Lumpur.

The Dorsett Residences gave me a much affordable alternative with access to the same cityscapes the JW Marriot and the Ritz Carlton have to offer. Check out the entire unit as you scroll down.

My staycation at the Dorsett Residences

I checked-in into a 2-bedroom premier suite which is 1011 sqft big that comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a welcoming living area and a luxurious bathroom. It was literally like having a much more chic home away from home. There is no doubt that the interiors are stylish and nicely curated with glossy surfaces and tasteful finishing.

I took advantage of the glass gym which overlooks the city for about an hour before lounging at the infinity pool. Yes there were sights of cranes and buildings but they do not feel intimidating anymore. When viewing it while half your body is soaked in water at the 30th floor, I felt I made peace with the city which I have always complained about.

Although having good customer service is a given in the hotel industry, Dorsett's hospitality is somewhat different. They are a considerate bunch of people with sustainable concepts that I readily vouch for. Dorsett have now switched from providing shampoos and bath gels in bottles to having them in dispensers as a greener alternative. Their toiletries melts all stress away with their therapeutic scent. It was not easy coming out of the bathroom!

Dorsett Kuala Lumpur, just a 5-minute walk from Pavillion

The Dorsett Residences Bukit Bintang is situated right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle and a the the start of Bintang Walk. it is just a short 5-minute walk to the doorsteps of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Starhill, Lot 10, Sungei Wang Plaza, BB Plaza, and Low Yat Plaza

After every room is sanitized, the room is sealed with a sticker. Such attention surely is assuring to guests.

From the kitchen to the entrance

The kitchen is well prepared with all the appliances, kitchenware and tableware that you need

The mirrored kitchen and dining area with an elegant chandelier

Just had to cook something up when the kitchen is so well equipped. Heated some Chinese dessert soup that I got from Lot 10 Hutong earlier.

Dining area to the living hall

The living area where lounged for a good 1 hour watching TV

A little bear to accompany me on my staycation.
Dorsett also provides plenty of ziplock bags for hygiene purposes

The master room with a queen bed

The master room is all glass for you to peer out for a good sight of the city

When you are there, do check out their long and narrow balcony that spans from the master room to the living room. Makes a personal runway for OOTD shots.

The sexy master bathroom

The very space to take indulging bathes

Sleek and elegant design

At Dorsett, there is no need to worry about shampoo and bath gels as they provide quality ones with the therapeutic scent that makes me want to stay in the shower.
I love the concept of having the shampoo and bath gel pumped instead of having them in bottles.
This is more environmental friendly

The glass gym is such a wonderful place to work out at.

I spent too much time at the pool and was too hungry to get out to find dinner although there are plenty of food in the vicinity so I decided to call for room service.
Lunch On The Go is available for room service for dinner too. The friendly kitchen staff decided to throw in a big tub of watermelon and a canister of cookies for us! That is how Dorsett go the extra mile for their guests.

Did you know that Dorsett is famous for their gluten-free chocolate chip cookies?
It is indeed the most chocolatey choc chips I know of and they always make me happy!
You can get their Coffee & Cookie Break promo at only RM6.50 nett. It comes with a cup of coffee and 2 pieces of cookies. They are selling them also at RM50 nett for 2 canisters.

If you want to find out more about the attractions in the vicinity of the hotel ask for a copy of Dorsett Discoveries which I think is a reliable guide to explore places as they recommend what locals do other than typical tourist attractions.
