PRP, Picolaser and Mole Removal at Dr. Chong Clinic

Whether you like it or not, the face is the first thing that people lay their eyes on when they meet you. When I noticed my pores were visible from a mile a way and pigmentation that gave away the frequent fall of sunshine on my skin, I knew I needed professional help. Denial was simply insufficient. 

When searching for treatment for my face, I could not risk having my skin being left in the hands of an uncertified personel. Licensed doctors are the best as they are educated and trained to prescribe treatments to the skin. Of the many clinics available, I find Dr. Chong Clinic to have assuring treatments at an affordable price. 

After having Dr. Jacqueline Lee hear my plight of giant pores, mottled skin and a mole, I was prescribed 3 treatments that could be done consecutively, saving me the trouble of multiple visits. 

Before treatment, I was made sure to comprehend the cause of my condition, the treatment and the effects if there is any. I appreciate the medical explaination although it is for aesthetic purposes as it is, at the end of the day, my skin.

Enlarged pores, pigmentation and mole all in one face

Consultation with the doctor is a vital session for patience to understand the condition of their skin although it is for aesthetic reasons

1. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Who knew that the elixir of beauty and youth has been inside us all along? PRP is a treatment using the body's own platelets for repair of cells. 20ml of blood was extracted and given a spin for approximately 1/2 hour to produce 8-10ml of plateletes. Because it is extracted from the patient's own blood, it is safe without the risk of side effects. It's efficacy is known for accelerating healing process and remedying problematic skin, hair and joints- the perfect fix for my dull skin and enlarged pores. Scars are also able to be corrected and promote collagen generation. 

The doctor will inject micro amounts of platelets into the skin using fine needles fit to inject babies. The sensation was negligible. Dr. Jacqueline and her assistant made sure that I was pain-free and comfortable every jab. The procedure took approximately 20 minutes for my face. Like every injection, there were slight bumps but they reduced in no time. 

Results should be visible within the first few weeks after the PRP treatment as the collagen and elastin start to restore. The appearance of scars begin to diminish as the procedure helps in stimulating the flow of blood and oxygen on the skin which removes toxins.

For those who received PRP on the face, it is advisable not to sweat for 3-4 days for fear of the nutrients being pushed out of the skin too soon and those who had PRP injected on the scalp can have their hair washed as usual.

2. Pico Laser

Pico Laser has always given me a feeling of an elegant wand that can combats many different skin woes. It is a treatment to brighten skin, reduce pigmentation, even out scars, even out skin tone and tighten pores. Pico Laser uses the latest and most innovative laser technology. It shoots ultrashort picosecond laser pulses and distribute energy in short bursts deep into the skin, bursting melasma into tiny fragments . The pressure waves activate the inflammatory healing response and boost collagen production. Pico Laser treatment plumps up the skin from the inside, evens skin tone, and give the skin a glow.

During the 10 minutes under the laser, Dr. Jacqueline had the machine tuned to 5 settings which targeted dull skin, pigmentation, scars, uneven skintone and enlarged pores. I was given laser-protective goggles. As the settings changed, I experienced mini sensations as the lasers were darted at the problem areas but nothing close to painful. The redness was necessary for the skin to regenerate. The cute redness stayed for 5-7 days. However I was able to resume my daily activities immediately. 

Patients have to stay away from strong sun exposure for a week to avoid hyper pigmentation. Face can be washed with cleanser and water. Sunblock and moisturizer can be applied as usual but stay away from products with whitening agents and alcohol. After about a week, my skin relaxed to be smoother and more even just like advised by the doctor.

3. Mole removal

Mole removal was done immediately after the PRP and Pico Laser sessions. I had my mole removed once via electric tagging and it quite stubbornly grew back. 

This time at Dr. Chong Clinic, Dr. Jacqueline recommended using the Edge One laser which has outstanding precision making the laser beam target the problem area without damaging the surrounding tissue It is so accurate that it can  be applied to a very small lesions less than 1 millimeter.

The mole turned into a dry scab which took 4 days to naturally fall off. Second session may or may not be necessary depending on whether the melasma developes again after first treatment.

Arrison Aiyu Jelly @ Sunway Pyramid

The Aiyu jelly has been mistaken as ordinary gelatin by many people including yours truely but somehow I knew that Aiyu jelly is special. Just when I was about to learn more, Arrison Aiyu which specializes in Aiyu jelly desserts gave me the lowdown on the source of Aiyu and its benefits.

Aiyu jelly is made by peptides, a substance that envelopes the seeds of a fig fruit, setting into water forming a jelly-like mass. Aiyu jelly was first discovered by the indigenous people of the AliShan mountain 1800m above sea level in Taiwan. The fig fruit has to be dried and 'washed' or massaged into water to allow the peptides to be released into the water.
