Dining in Movida @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

When the moon is bright, the mood is right,
and all you need is a perfect dinner for the night,
I have a place for you alright!

Movida at Changkat Bukit Bintang made my Friday evening that week something that I would thank God for with their renovated venue and creative new menu (all dishes in this review is only available in Movida at Changkat Bukit Bintang at the moment). May it be for serious dining or for casual drinks, Movida purveys.
Looking forward to a great evening in Movida Changkat Bukit Bintang
Located strategically at the palpitating junction that separates Jalan Alor and Changkat, Movida Restaurant and Bar is a landmark that you cannot miss. The vivacious atmosphere in this part of Kuala Lumpur can turn even the most morbid of dates into night to remember.

The place have been renovated into a stylish eatery that homes a bar and club too. While the restaurant plays hit music to accompany your appetite, the amplifiers are upped from 11pm onwards for the ultimate nightlife.
The dandy dining atmosphere inside

Interestingly designed bar illuminates the mood
The al-fresco section of restaurant is alluring. There is a huge projector screen to satisfy your football frenzy and in case you have a craving for games, there are darting stations in place for some competitive fun. Movida's immaculate hospitality is also to be credited. The friendly staff are always servicing with a smile even if when it comes to photography!

My Mango Margarita RM30.00
My friend's Singapore Sling RM28.00

Mussels and Clam Pot served with garlic toast RM35.80
Our flavour of the day was white wine. Flavour varies from day to day. Ask for the flavour of the day!
We knew we were on the right track when we started with the Mussels and Clam Pot. The flavour of that Friday was white wine. The crustaceans were cooked just right preserving the texture and sweetness of the clams and mussels. The broth was infused with white wine with a touch of cream which kept me slurping the savoury goodness till the last drop. What makes it interesting is that the flavours vary from day to day.
Slurping the broth to the last drop
Flaming Bean Can Chicken RM26.80
BBQ Whole Spring Chicken with baked beans, mushroom and coleslaw
Our dinner was literally the bomb when the Flaming Bean Can Chicken arrived. A whole spring chicken is barbecued with baked beans and mushrooms, locking in the essence of chicken into the beans and mushrooms. Its creative entrance stole the attention of neighbouring diners. Vodka is used to set the chicken into a violet flame which settles to give a distinct fragrance and a light crisp.

The spring chicken is good enough for two
Charbroiled Steak RM95.80
Australian Grass-fed Ribeye or Tenderloin with garlic confit, truffle mushroom ragout and roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes
My ribeye steak cooked medium
The charbroiled steak remedied my life after the week-long grind. How can anything match up to a thick block of Australian Grass-fed Ribeye seared with the perfect seasoning that seeps into the pinkish medium-cooked meat inside. The garlic confit is is slow cooked with olive oil and brings an aromatic sweetness when eaten with the meat. The mushroom sauce holds a woody flavour in the right thickness and fantastically flavourful. The truffle mushroom ragout simply tantalized the taste buds with a blend of cream and spices that highlighted the divinity of the truffles.
Good food, beautiful place, great company. What else can I ask for
Jackfruit Spring Rolls with vanilla ice cream RM15.80
It is always good to wrap up the flamboyant meal with something closer to home, the Jackfruit Spring Rolls. The hot and piping dessert is served in a sampan (boat) and accompanied by good old vanilla ice-cream which teases the palates with an occasional chill. The crisp of the skin could be more fun if it was thinner. The jackfruit filling however is in generous portions and packs sufficient fragrance of the fruit with every bite.
Generous jackfruit filling
House select red wine RM25
My friend and I eased into the weekend with house pour red wine while soaking up the vibes of the vibrant Kuala Lumpur.
Thank you for the hospitality Movida!

Nook Dinner Buffet...for a Bachelorette @ Aloft Hotel Sentral KL

Another one off the market! My dear friend whom I have known pretty much most of my life is getting married! Upon the confirmation with a red bomb, we automatically hollered for a bachelorette dinner of course! What are girl friends for right? As the group has mellowed into motherhood, we decided to have a classy and sensible session sans the clubbing and stripper or kids (I know how much we are missing alright)
Nook buffet dinner with splendid lights
Located strategically at KL Sentral, Aloft Hotel was a fair venue as the girls came from all over Klang Valley. One even made it fresh out from KLIA to the dinner that night. As for me, my favourite way to beat the traffic and avoid perpetual rounds of carpark search is by taking the train.
Michelle being crowned the queen of the evening
The theme for the evening was 'Bling Bling'. A fun opportunity for all the girls to dress up and shine. We got Michelle a little tiara complete with a veil tagging along and a sash that labels her the bride-to-be. Michelle has always been a girly girl and when she said she felt like a princess that night we felt pretty sure we were the best girl friends in town...haha! Balloons and other decorations were help set up by the friendly waiters which was a big favour for us in evening dresses and heels.
Michelle and I
Be sure not to skip the appetizers as they are interestingly created with permutations of cold dishes that will certainly attract your eyes. Cold platter was also fresh and sweet.

Appetizers
The restaurant's local delights came complete with local condiments and flavouring like the cincalok and budu. There were a variety of curries to satisfy your spicy palate. They were not quite worthy of tummy space as they were nothing short of ordinary. I remember my jaws were working quite a bit on the beef too.
Local delights- rendang and curry
Local condiments and flavouring
The Western side featured beef, fish fillet and chicken. My favourite of the platters is the fish fillet which makes a communal dish when chatting with friends.

The oriental corner was easy to spot with chinese steam baskets containing little bowls of goodness. Open the lids with anticipation of what is steaming underneath. Nutritious combinations unveil after the steam has dissipated. Pick your choice carefully as they are piping hot!

The sumptuous lamb shank got my attention for sure. The reddish meat beckoned but it was not as tender as it looked and a tad dry. It was condoned however, as the meat was flavourful without the odour.

Desserts made us make a point to save tummy space for sweets! Choices of desserts were aplenty from confectioneries to the local ice kacang. Clean your palates with not only sweet but colourful delights.

Delectable choices
Nook perfected the night with a custom made cake for us to congratulate Michelle with. With this, we wish her a sweet beginning with many more delicious life events to come. The evening was articulated with lots of chat and laughter. Of course, what is a bachelorette without the traditional truth or dare game (at minimum) that not only kept us entertained but also selected lucky guests over the other tables.
A cake for Michelle compliments of Aloft Sentral KL
Nook also serves breakfast and lunch. To me, it has good ambiance, location and variety of food to cater for events and family meals alike.
Congratulations Michelle!

Love you girl! Wishing you a happy and blessed marriage!

Food Factory @ Resorts World Genting

Breakfast is extremely vital for that lasting energy especially in a place that has endless attractions like Genting. Here is one place you can go to pile up on your energy before you start your day on the highlands at an affordable price! My sister and I had a hearty breakfast at the Food Factory for only RM29 nett! Here is a much better alternative to grocery food breakfast from 7 Eleven.
Good morning from Genting! What are you having for breakfast?
Food Factory is located on 3rd floor at First World Plaza on a sprawling 23,578 sqft area that can accommodate up to 1300 guests. Extremely clean and neat, Food Factory soups up the spirit for an adventurous day ahead!
Food Factory sprawls at 23,578 sqft area and can accomodate up to 1300 guests
There are 4 counters for you to pick your food from which in my opinion, is enough to satisfy all walks of appetite. Also, Food Factory churns out its food with some amazing high tech machines specially purchased to fit the theme.

Western Counter
At the Western counter, the star of the buffet line has to be the pancakes and its syrup fountain. Pancakes are made from a machine that churns out a piece every 10 minutes with the right heat consistency and size.
Captivated by the syrup fountain behind

Freshly made
Pancakes with 5 different spreads available (+1 more...syrup from the fountain)
Best of all, other than syrup sprouting from the fountain, you can enjoy your pancakes with 5 other different spreads. My favourite would be the chocolate! Yum!
Scrambled eggs
Sausages, grilled tomatoes, sauteed potatoes and baked beans
The Western spread is quite simple, with the basics one can expect. Other than the delicious sausages, and fun pancakes, I quickly took interest in the next counter.

East Asian Counter
Being Chinese, its always heart warming to have a bowl of hot congee and steamed buns. Fried noodles, fried rice and chee cheong fun are also available for those who believe in carbs in the morning. Accompanying the oriental food is an assortment of condiments that will customize the dish to your liking.

Hot piping steamed bun
Fried carrot cake with XO sauce gives the buffet spread a little more character. Its pleasant to find hawker food being respected enough to be brought here.

If you find the fried rice here to be fluffier than usual it is because it is cleverly cooked by a fried rice machine that gives that consistent stir throughout cooking. Not all machine made food is inferior. The tireless stir covers every grain of rice with egg and flavour.
The advantage of machine fried rice is a fluffier texture and more consistency

West Asian Counter
Being Malaysians, we cannot ignore our mamak taste buds too! The West Asian counter takes care of your curry cravings with a satisfactory range of Indian food. Check out the dips which includes my favourite hummus and coconut chutney.
Of curries, chickpeas, dhal and nasi lemak
Freshly tossed capati
Variety of dips- Baba Ganoush, Coconut Chutney, Hummus
Big wok of chicken curry
Pastry Counter
If nothing suits your appetite and you are up for some pastry, suit yourself at the Pastry counter where there are a variety of breads and buns for you to choose from.
Pastries and more pastries
Food Factory also makes its pizzas using a machine that is specially bought to fit the theme. Well, to me it is more of an instant oven expediting the baking procedure. The topped pizza goes through the machine and comes out ready in a jiffy.

Waiting for the pizza to be out
Abundant of spreads for your bread
I like the abundant of spreads available to thickly slab on my bread. The sensational (but sinful) bite of the thick spread before the bun is possible when there is free flow of butter, peanut butter, jam and kaya!
Jom breakfast!
End your power meal with some fresh sliced fruit to wash the palate or to supplement the daily fibre you need.
