Papa, My Curry-loving Hero

I drive the car- and I only drive the car. I have never had to wash it, service it or pump the petrol. Sometimes, I do not even need to drive as I will be chauffeured to my destination. I get updated with the latest news because every morning there is a fresh copy of newspaper in my study room. I almost never need to buy them. Every morning I am greeted with hot and hearty breakfast and never went to work hungry before. No, I am neither a superstar nor am I a rich kid. I dare not think that I am worthy of any of those treatments. But, to my father, I am his princess.

I am my father's princess

Kuala Lumpur Big Kitchen 2015- Could It Be Better?

“There are 3 ways to my heart- Buy me food, make me food, be food.” I have always been proud of Malaysia’s capability to satisfy the most demanding appetites. Being brought up in this country, I am spoilt for choice. Therefore, it is very difficult not to relate to food because Malaysia is food!

Malaysia is food

Our country’s food scene boasts variety and taste. Some of the best being camouflaged as street food behind alleys or as village stalls. How can we bring them together to our fellow tourists? If only we could gather our nasi lemak royale from Alor Star, Ipoh chicken rice, satay celup from Melaka, mee kolok from Sarawak, longan drink from Petaling Street and keropok lekor from Kemaman for the American tourists who need to be taken away from the doughnut staple or the English travelers who has tried enough fish and chips.

Of Crystal Clear Skin with Ido’s Clinic Skin Laser Aesthetics

I must admit that I was a greenhorn when it comes to skincare. Although I was made aware by profuse nagging that the skin could determine my fortune of attracting my other half, I remained negligent. I have never participated in any skincare other than selecting products off the shelves and pinching facials. This welcomed permanent scars on the skin.

Breakfast at Yut Kee Kopitiam

My family and I are fans of breakfasts and brunches. That Sunday before he was leaving back overseas for work, I decided that a visit to the Old Lady of Kuala Lumpur would be a good wrap-up for the weekend. Yut Kee Kopitiam in Chow Kit has earned herself the majestic title by being around since 1928. The number of check-ins from my friends at Yut Kee in FB concurs that this eatery remains the choice of many till today.

Sorella Lingerie Private Workshop, Tropicana City Mall

It gives you support when you need it. It protects you during rain and shine. It boosts you up when you are down. Sounds like a best friend doesn’t it? How many women consider the bra as best friend after so much it has done for us? Do you know how to pick your best friend in the first place?

The bra is women's best friend

Pulau Ubin, Singapore

I didn’t know my skin could talk until I heard it screaming at me one day. After a week being ultra-urbanized in Singapore, I must have bathed my hide thoroughly with carbon dioxide, monoxide and matters of such. Seabreeze, it demanded. After hearing its plea, my boyfriend brought a map of Pulau Ubin back from work. I clapped excitedly like a teenager receiving a creditcard. And, off we went to Pulau Ubin that Saturday.

Pulau Ubin means granite island in Malay, situated at the north east of Singapore

To Ma, With Love

This Mother's Day, I dedicate this article To Ma, With Love

I have never taken a school bus before. I remember envying my neighbours boarding that bright yellow tank which had ‘BAS SEKOLAH’ boldly spelled in black on it. As they chugged their way to school, I threw my bags into my mother’s car and unwillingly buckled my seatbelt. The driver always wondered why this child was so unhappy to go to school in an air-conditioned Nissan.

Being a kid, I never understood why my mother did not work. I did not seem to like the idea of my mother not arriving in a suit on my report card day or not having my mother’s office to talk about. When most of my friends were sweltering in bas sekolahs from school, I arrived home half an hour earlier than my friends, washed and fed with steaming home-cooked food. But still, I longed to be home alone with a maid or eat catered food just because I wanted to be like my other friends. This is an example of my utter imbecility. In retrospect, if I had a kid like yours truely, I would have already given her up for adoption!
