Abundance of goodness is what Sunway Putra Hotel's Chinese New Year buffet is all about this year! Laid along the sides and in the centre of Coffee House, the spread of food is a view of happiness especially during the festive season. If a course meal is not getting anymore exciting for you and your friends, this buffet is something I am ready to recommend for gatherings and reunions this CNY. From seafood to beef and lamb to traditional Chinese cookies, the restaurant satiates a wide variety of appetites.
Gatherings I suppose will never run out of topic here as their dessert department can really be a topic to chatter about. The sweet section is quiet extensive that it can rival the mains. If it can entice sugar-conscious people like yours truely to dig in their desserts first, it is a wonderland for the sweet-toothed. Remember to make your way to the end of the post to check out their Instagram-worthy delights, faboulously created by their award-winning pastry chef.

Live cooking at the seafood corner |
The dessert corner is a spectacle on its own with dainty Chinese themed decorations that makes them all nearly impossible to resist. The adornment on each platter mirrors the heart and devotion the chef has pours into his creations. Other than presentation, I must say that I am fascinated with the creativity of novelty recipes and flavours that the chef came up with. I was really pleased that all the desserts were not overly sweet and just the right level to tantalize the taste buds.
Do not take brown cakes here for granted as chocolate, neither should pink cakes be assumed as strawberry flavoured. Among the creations that proves their resourcefulness are Lime Chocolate Velvet (refreshing!), Green Tea Red Bean Choc Cake (traditional yet novelty), Ginger Chocolate Cheese Cake (impressed!) and Coconut Jelly Palm Sugar (best of tropical products).

Enjoy the sticky rice cake (nian gao) on its own. Chew slowly to absorb the fragrance of brown sugar |
