Street Feeding with Air Asia @ Kuala Lumpur

While you are complaining that the food in front of you is 'sucky', there are children who are crying for another scoop of porridge...just for one more scoop.

While you are deriding that person with that 'entry level' branded bag, some are searching the dustbins for torn bags to repair so that their children can carry books to school.

As cliche as it may sound, we won't know how blessed we are until we meet them. As we curse the rainy day for drenching us but still having a hot shower that we can turn on, we will never know how it feels like living on the streets. If you feel the pain of keeping afloat in the rat race, imagine survival for them, keeping track of every ringgit. And when health issues come visiting, they surrender to the humanity of the public.

Every person you see on the streets has a story of their own

Our guests that evening are just like you and I- want nice clothes, want comfortable house, want nice car and never want to be hungry. But what makes us feel entitled to so much more than them? Did we work harder? Did we study more? Is it because we were born with better looks? Or were they born with just that simple, explainable lack of luck?

Air Asia did a wonderful job in helping NGO Need to Feed the Need to reach out to the less fortunate in Kuala Lumpur. Meals, goody bags, hair cut and manicure were offered to alleviate, in any way, their struggles to make ends meet. You will never know how your warm smile or friendly handshake can strengthen their faith in life again.

If you are a believer that fate is in your hands. I believe, you cannot truely control everything in life. Every one strived at one point of their life. Every one tried their best in life to live better. Being part of the urban poor is definitely not their aim. Yes, people make decisions in their lives and repercussions come out of them. We think we can make better decisions and plans but in the end, we will never know how we will end up in the future too.

A Small Change Goes A Long Way #AirAsiaMAKNA Campaign 2016

What can 10 cents do nowadays? Air Asia again proved that nothing is too small an amount through the #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign 2016. For one month from August to September, AirAsia had pledged 10 cents from every flight booking made on its website. Using the magnitude of Air Asia's position as the leading low-cost carrier in Asia, RM350,000 has been raised for the National Cancer Counsel of Malaysia (MAKNA) to help cancer patients. A small 'change' indeed went a long way.

Awareness is raised and education is spread about this deadly disease during the campaign. While the consequences of such a diagnosis is very much life changing, the big C is not a ticket to perish. Harikrishnan, is a living testament of life after cancer. Hari is a stage-4 cancer survivor. At 24 years old, he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. Anybody could not have digested the cruelty that befell him. But that day, he sat just next to me and perhaps was in a better shape than I was. 

Hari, you are definitely a fighter and an inspiration to me. Thank you for enlightening me.
God must have sent you to give me strength when I am clouded with negativity.

It was not for nothing that fate acquainted me with this young bloke. He radiated so much positivity that I could not bear being strangers with him. At only 28, Hari had gone through enough to know the real struggles of life. When I heard the story of this fighter, I am ashamed of myself for complaining about my so called 'miserable' life.

When life gave him a million reasons to give up, Hari gave life a million reasons to smile. Adopting the power of attraction, he told himself that he is fine even when he had to trudge down chemotherapy. He told me how he found strength deep within him while being nurtured by angels who were willing to stop to care in this seemingly cold society. Giving up was not his choice and he was not allowing negativity to sentence him to death. Overcoming the threshold not only made him percieve life differently, it also made him a mighty example of determination to patients and non-patients alike.

Guests and Avenue K visitors were treated to live performances by local powerhouse celebrities such as Kaka Azraff, SonaOne, Joe Flizzow and our darling Dato' Siti Nurhaliza. The event also brought together free clinical examinations, health talks, health food sampling and of course a wealth of information about cancer.

Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad said that the airlines company is committed to the #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign in helping patients nationwide to battle the disease. Be it a cheque to MAKNA or sponsored holidays to patients, Air Asia makes sure they keep flying with compassion.

During my journeys, travel 3sixty^o has always been there to give me an uplifting read, putting my time to good use before I reach my destinations. Its colourful pages and immaculate editorial pumps good knowledge in me and widens my perspective of the world. Inspiration is in every corner of the magazine and it concurs with my objective to travel- to experience different cultures, see different beauty and eat what people from different parts of the world eat.

This magazine does not only add value to travellers but is also a legitimate tool to teach English in schools. Larrie Jessika from Tebedu Sarawak thinks that this is the perfect text book for students to absorb the language in a fun way. Its captivating visuals and motivating tales with engaging writing styles not only disseminates knowledge but also cultivates adventurous souls. Teacher Larrie was presented with a watch worth RM30,000 as a token of appreciation for his initiative.

Larrie Jessika's unique teaching method hatched the idea of AirAsia's special contest "Invite travel 3sixty^o ". Contestants will have to invite the editorial team to their hometown and get their place featured as the cover story, further enriching the insights of places in Malaysia.

I enjoyed the celebration with continuous music and drinks at the prestigious bar, overlooking my spectacular city in the midst of the drizzle. Kuala Lumpur's lights are always a fascination to me. Having visited many cities, I am proud that my home city is no less than others. I also won an American Tourister backpack by lucky draw that promising evening. It is a sign...to more travelling! What a rewarding way to end the strenuous week!
