Shopping In Times of Corona

Kerana Corona, I don’t sleep-in during weekends. I have no choice because it takes just a fraction of a minute to determine if I spend the rest of the day waiting for my turn to get into the supermarket. I drag myself out of bed to prepare myself to the battlefield of the Ketua Rumah kind before even taking breakfast. I strap that mask across my face and load up my disinfectant wipes. Trousers which will have to go straight into the washing machine after this trip, have to have pockets for me to slip in my credit cards, cash, handphone and contain my car keys. My handbag has forgotten how it is like to go out with me because I cannot risk having her touching things nearby especially if her owner can sometimes lose her grace. The hair has to be pinned up so that it doesn’t sweep on any surface. The night before, I will call for any last orders in the family because I will not be able return home till the dusk if I were to re-queue.

Despite the fuss of getting out of the house, I have to admit that ticking items off the shopping list is therapeutic. But the therapy is short-lived because checking out of the supermarket requires another heave of energy. Pushing items from the cart to the counter while making sure they don’t fall off the other end and keeping an eye of on the items scanned so that they won’t be mistakenly keyed in twice amid the heap of groceries that I created requires some effort. Then there is that moment when I have to dump everything into the trolley quickly so that I don’t keep the cashier and the next person in line waiting in frustration. After that only can I push the wobbly trolley to my car just to pass by a couple who decided to do grocery shopping in pairs.

Although grocery shopping is different now, it is nothing compared to what our frontliners are doing. I feel grateful that my basic necessities can still be met while gawking at the people who unabashedly flout the MCO rules.

Out of the 99 new gondolas, only 10 gondolas are built with glass bottom where visitors can enjoy a birds eye view of the beautiful forest and Twentieth Century Fox World theme park. Departing from the Awana Transportation Hub, the cable car will stop over Chin Swee Temple in 6 minutes from departure, making the place of worship even more accessible and attractive.

The new system is slightly faster, offering a shorter ride than the old Genting Skyway that is 3.4 km long. The cable cars will escalate visitors to 620 meters in a 2.8 km journey that takes 10 minutes. Genting Skyway will be temporarily closed while Awana Skyway is in operation. Both systems will take turns to ferry customers.

Shopping at Freeport A' Famosa Outlet @ Melaka

The I-have-nothing-to-wear syndrome kicked again. More so, when Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year are coming one after another. Joining the success of Outlet Malls in the south and near KLIA2, A' Famosa launched Malaysia's latest outlet on 5th December 2015. I answered the calling and made my trip down to Melaka for my festive clothes hunt!

Dutch themed architecture welcomed me when I arrived. It is the perfect portrayal of the historical state. The single story mall is arranged in a 180,000 sqft open air space accommodating over 60 fashion, sport and accessory brands. This place is structured with beautiful landscapes, featuring a lake, fountains, carousel and windmill.

Freeport A' Famosa houses 60 premium brands like Nike, Cotton On, Esprit, Puma, G2000, Carlo Rino, Clarks, Forever 21, Samsonite, Folli Follie, Sacoor Brothers and more. To those who just cannot get enough, 40 more shops are expected to open in 2016 to satisfy your shopping fetish.

Mirrors after mirrors, fittings after fittings, I managed to find a set of clothes that will make my mother proud on Chinese New Year!

This long top with side slits from Forever 21 is striking and refreshing in orange, adequately balanced with white that brightens the face and styled with a black horizontal stripe. The material is very light and flies with slight movements or wind.

Throw a long golden chain around the neck to make it more interesting or more fengshui speaking, to bring the ong (fortune or luck) during the festive season.

My pick for the day

The faux leather pants also from Forever 21 anchors the look with good cutting. The material is a little hot but no pain no gain! I love the cutting of the pants and it is sufficient to give that sophisticated look with any top. I should have paired the pants with black boots or thick strap black heels to elongate my stature but anyhoo...you won't go too wrong with any heels :)
