Residents of Taman Segar low cost flats must be pinching themselves for the windfall that they have just landed on. Their lives are about to change as their 500 sqft staircased flat home will be replaced with a 900 sqft, elevator-facilitated condominium unit each. Other than that, they will also enjoy serviced swimming pool and gym. If I knew this luck would befall on these flat dwellers, I would have asked my parents to purchase a unit 40 years ago.

On a more serious note, from what was heard over the grapevines, the 2-room low-cost flat units barely have enough allocation for proper dining space, forcing the dwellers to have their meals at the living hall. As most of the residents here age with their homes, climbing the stairs everyday will not be so safe for them. Most parts of the buildings are also beyond economical repair.

Implemented within the next three years, Taman Segar Flats will be replaced with Segar Residences where houses are pegged at RM300,000 each. While over 300 units will be given to the residence as CSR, the rest of the units will be open for sale to public.
This project will be developed without the involvement of any subsidy from the government and this Program Rumah Wilayah is proof that there can be cohesive collaboration between the government and the private sector without the need for government subsidies and developed with massive savings to assure affordable rates for community residents, according to Chin Ke Liang, Project Director of Upper Label Sdn Bhd.

Each 900sf ft unit is built with views of Kuala Lumpur City, full facilities including an infinity pool, all enveloped in a low-density project that is built on prime land in Cheras. Easily accessible via various major highways and byways, this project is walking distance to the Mutiara MRT as well as to Leisure Mall.
