Crispy Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs (RM102 nett for half and RM204 nett for whole)
Chef Ho Boon takes pride in presenting the Crispy Roasted Duck with Chinese Herbs. The kitchen dedicates close to 10 hours preparing the toothsome dish. Crackling crispy duck skin caps every cut of tender duck meat that just sends bliss to the palette.
Unforgettable taste when paired with plum sauce
Deep Fried Pomfret Fish with Sweet and Sour Strawberry Sauce (
Strawberry is not only a pretty dessert in Chef Ho's kitchen. The sweet and sour fruit contributes to the mouthwatering tangy sauce doused over deep fried pomfret. Indeed a refreshing twist from the regular sweet and sour ingredients as the fruit's fructose seep into the fish.
Steamed tiger King Prawn with Black Vinegar Garlic Sauce (RM148 per portion)
Freshness of tiger prawns is brilliantly flaunted by a careful blend of white and roasted garlic steamed with tactful amount of vinegar. The combination of seasoning keeps it well flavoured yet simple enough for the seafood's natural sweetness to unfold.

Braised Sliced Abalone with Conpoy and Lion's Mane Mushroom with Seasonal Vegetable
The gentle dish of vegetables is not to be underestimated. Lion's mane mushroom is braised till the right texture accompanied by sapid dried seafood, abalone and scallops which upped the dish's appeal.
Braised Five Grain Rice with Diced Chicken and Conpoy in Abalone Broth (RM56 nett per portion)
Being the penultimate dish, there is usually not enough appetite for rice. Chef Ho however, made this dish easily welcomed in abalone broth. The seafood broth recreates salivation among us to gobble our portion up.

Hot Sweetened Eight Treasures in Almond Cream
Dessert in the Celestial Court is always something to look forward to no matter how well-fed we were from the dishes before. The smooth almond cream is ground from scratch in the Chef Ho's kitchen and accentuated with traditional Chinese goodies like wolfberries, lotus seeds, lily bulb, snow fungus, dates, aloe vera and longan. This bowl of sweet indulgence will even impress eaters who are not familiar with almond milk.

Fragrance of almonds made an indelible impression

Chinese New Year Feast @ Dorsett Kuala Lumpur

Dorsett Kuala Lumpur is not missing out in serving prosperity dishes to usher in the Chinese New Year. The hotel located in the heart of the palpitating city serves a tantalizing array of three Chinese set menus priced from RM1188 nett to RM1388 nett per table of 10 persons. Each set offers a hearty spread of traditional and symbolic favourites.

It was more joyous that my muslim friends could join me in embracing the full 8-course Chinese meal as Dorsett's halal certification offers assurance as they always have. After all, the true meaning of togetherness knows no religious boundaries.

Ready to toss to good luck!
The messier, the merrier, the better!
It is really not a Chinese New Year feast without the Yee Sang which is a good jumble of ingredients each symbolizing auspicious meanings. This year, a relatively new ingredient, the Snow Pear, is added in the Yee Sang dish to symbolize smooth sailing in life (xun xun li li). It is the only dish when mess is welcomed to show merriment and joviality!

Braised Seafood with Beancurd and Mushrooms Soup
Salmon chunks accentuates the seafood flavour
Salmon chunks in the Braised Seafood with Beancurd and Mushrooms Soup accentuates the seafood sensation in the soup. The soup inherits a tasty blend from the morsels of scallop, dried mussels, mushroom and beancurd.

Fried Butter Prawns with Oatmeal
Roasted 'Pei Pa' Duck with Sweet Sauce
Have some Fried Butter Prawns with Oatmeal to lock in the laughter for the rest of the year. The Roasted Pei Pa Duck is served in a pool of sweet sauce that has at least 5 hours invested in the making.
Deep fried Seabass with Spicy Sichuan Bean Paste

Braised Black Mushrooms with Seasonal Vegetables
Fret not of the word Spicy Sichuan Bean Paste as the sauce is tangy and sweet with just a peck of chili which is suitable for children and those whose tongue cannot handle fieriness. The platter of vegetables is doused with superior stock to braise the black mushrooms and greens to a pleasant texture.
Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Spring Onion
When it comes to the comfort dish, experience how amazing appetizing it can be with the humble ingredients of salted fish and spring onions with their fried rice.

Steamed Nian Gao with Coconut Floss
End the dinner with some steamed nian gao with coconut floss and osmanthus flower jelly, a Chinese dessert inherited from the Ming Dynasty. Fragrant is the word for the steamed Nian Gao with Coconut Floss. It only took 1 bite to fall in love with the soft lumps of glutinous rice cakes smelling pleasantly of brown sugar.
