Being a woman in the engineering field is more than having a cuter safety shoe size or a pony tail under the helmet. While our estrogens are more prevalent on the rig nowadays, are our opinions accepted the same?
Women have come so far from the days they were forbidden to work and vote. This day, around the world, we have female presidents and leaders who speak louder at global podiums than their stilettos on tiles. Thank you to all employers and industry players who acknowledge the woman's strengths and competencies. It takes good initiative to recognize that although we are uniquely different in the world of steel, we are still needed make the establishment perform optimally.
Women today are not merely gap fillers but pillars from family to work institutions. That being said, we don't mean to cause a power struggle wherever we go. Use our sensitivity and ability to "link everything together" well and you will be rewarded. While we may never match the brawn of our male counterparts, our intelligence and intuition cannot be negated.
In the era when women empowerment is well supported by men, women have to recognize how strong and potential they are. All empowerment will be wasted if women do not believe in themselves. They have to realize that they are the diamond and their own rock. Women empowerment has to be embraced by women themselves first.
